Power Shift Program
Earn a monthly credit on your June, July and August bill, while helping manage the demand for electricity during peak usage periods by enrolling in PowerShift. Application deadline is May 13. If submitted after May 13, applications will be applied in 2018.
How The Program Works?
After enrolled, Peregrine Heating & Cooling will install a demand load control switch (DLC) on your air conditioner, electric water heater or pool pump; that may be activated when demand is up-typically in the afternoons. The switch will not activate on weekends or holidays, and most people don't even know the difference.
Will I Notice a change in my home's comfort?
You should not notice a difference in either your hot water supply or your home's comfort level. Since water heaters act as a storage device, there should be no loss of hot water. For air conditioning the switch will allow your unit to cycle on for 15 minutes and off for 15 minutes, meaning the compressor will shut off for up to 30 minutes of every hour it curtailed. During the 30 minutes the compressor is off, the fan will continue to run and circulate air through the house. Your fan stays on to circulate already cooled air to keep your home comfortable. You'll stay cool and keep your water hot, while you save energy and help out your community.
What do I get for participating?
Members who have the DLC switch installed will receive the following credits:
- Electric Water Heater-$9 a month in July, August and September
- Air Conditioner-$15 a month in July, August and September
- Pool Pump-$15 a month in July, August and September
When Will I Receive the Bill Credit?
Once the switch is installed, you will receive a credit on your bill in June, July and August.
